The Dambulla Cave Temple is one of Sri Lanka's most remarkable historical and religious landmarks, dating back to the 1st century BCE. Built beneath a massive overhanging rock, the temple complex consists of five caves with carved drip ledges that have protected the interiors from rain for over two thousand years.Inside the caves, visitors can admire beautiful murals and intricate ceiling paintings, along with numerous statues of Lord Buddha, bodhisattvas, and various deities, creating a unique blend of art, history, and spirituality.The temple has remained an active Buddhist monastery and is considered the best-preserved ancient cave temple in Sri Lanka.
