Most iconic Destination
Ella is a picturesque hill town in the Badulla District of Sri Lanka's Uva Province, situated approximately 1,041 meters (3,415 feet) above sea level. Today it is one of Sri Lanka's most popular tourist destinations, but its history dates back much further. Ella is home to the famous Nine Arch Bridge, completed in 1921. Built almost entirely with brick, stone, and cement—without structural steel—it remains one of Sri Lanka's greatest railway engineering achievements from the colonial period.
According to Sri Lankan history and the Ramayana tradition, Ella is associated with King Ravana. Nearby attractions such as Ravana Cave and Ravana Falls are believed to be linked to the story in which Princess Sita was hidden after being brought to Lanka. These stories are part of local legend rather than verified historical fact.

Nine Arches Bridge
one of Sri Lanka's most iconic railway bridges. Located between Ella and Demodara railway stations, it was completed in 1921 during the British colonial era.
Ravana Falls
A beautiful 25-meter waterfall surrounded by lush greenery, linked to the legendary tale of King Ravana.
Lipton's Seat View Point
Located about 30–40 minutes from Ella, this famous viewpoint was where Sir Thomas Lipton is said to have admired his tea estates.
Diyaluma Falls
Sri Lanka's second-highest waterfall (220 m), famous for its natural infinity pools and breathtaking scenery.
